The challenge

Athletics produces results at enormous volume and pace, and fans expect them fast and correct, especially during major championships. Haymarket needed a results platform for the IAAF, the world governing body for athletics (now World Athletics), that could carry that scale and the varied shape of the data behind it.

How we helped

We architected and developed a large sporting and athletics results web application for iaaf.org, using ASP.NET MVC with Razor views backed by MongoDB. MongoDB suited the fast-moving, varied structure of results data far better than a rigid relational model, and the work went deep enough that we contributed back to the official MongoDB C# driver.

The result

A results platform built to handle the scale and pace of international athletics, on data foundations chosen to match the problem rather than fight it.
